Penang state exco Jagdeep Singh Deo was allegedly attacked by an unknown person on Friday evening and has been hospitalised following the incident, according to a report today.
The Malay Mail reported that an unknown individual had approached the lawmaker and shoved him and then his son before fleeing the scene at a store in Tanjung Bungah, Penang around 8.30pm.
The 51-year-old Datok Keramat assemblyperson was taken to the hospital after that due to his injuries from the incident.
It was reported that Jagdeep’s ankle was hurt but that he is in stable condition now.
Penang police chief Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain has since verified that they have arrested a suspect in relation to this case.
The suspect was remanded for two days to facilitate investigations into the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt. - Mkini
