KUALA LUMPUR: A 60-year-old woman and her 22-year-old son were burnt to death in a pre-dawn fire at a four-storey bungalow at Taman Gembira today.
In a statement today, the City Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said another two men were also injured in the fire.
The department said the two bodies and injured victims were all sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for further action.
Thirty-five firefighters from four stations – Seputeh, Hang Tuah, Sri Petaling and Pantai – rushed to the scene upon receiving a distress call at 6.22am.
"According to operations commander Musa Abdullah, the 80x70 square feet bungalow was already engulfed in fire when the team arrived at 6.32am.
"There were four victims. A woman and a man were found dead while another two men sustained injuries and were sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment," the department said.
The department said the first floor of the bungalow was 100 per cent destroyed while the second floor was 50 per cent damaged.
The rescue team managed to fully douse the fire at 7.12pm.
It added that the cause of the fire remains under investigation. - NST
