Retaining wall collapses during downpour, five cars damaged

IPOH: Five cars were damaged when the retaining wall along Jalan SA Lingam at Ipoh Garden South here collapsed.

The incident is believed to have occurred at about 3.50pm Saturday (June 18).

Factory supervisor KC Kong, 40, who was in the area to pick up his son from computer class, said it was raining heavily when the incident occurred.

"I had just parked my car from across the wall and went to go get my son.

"I then heard a loud noise that sounded like a car crash, then I looked back and saw the wall had collapsed on several cars," he said when contacted.

"I had initially wanted to park near the wall, but thankfully I did not," he said.

"As I was leaving the area, I also saw some houses in the residential areas inundated by flash floods," he added.

In a short text reply, Canning assemblyman Jenny Choy said she was assisting the affected car owners with the matter.
