13 areas in Sarawak record unhealthy air quality

KUALA LUMPUR:

Thirteen areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy air pollutant index (API) readings as of 9am today, with Sri Aman and the Serian district police headquarters recording the highest readings of 180.

According to data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System portal, other areas with unhealthy readings included Kuching (175), Sibu (171), Sarikei (169), Bintulu (169) and Samarahan (169).

Unhealthy API readings were also recorded in Mukah (161), Miri (159), Samalaju (159), the Miri Industrial Training Institute (156), Limbang (153) and Kapit (118).

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy; and above 300, hazardous. - FMT
