Treated water in Melaka is safe, the state government said today after suspected human remains were found in the Durian Tunggal dam.

The state secretary, Salhah Salleh, said quality monitoring so far has shown that the treated water remains safe for consumption.

She said water quality is monitored and tested in accordance with established standards. The state government will step up monitoring and inspections, including sampling and testing.

Salhah added that the discovery of suspected human remains at the dam reserve should not be seen as contamination or a threat to the safety of water supply.

She advised the public not to panic, jump to conclusions, or spread unverified information about water safety, the victim’s identity, or the cause of the incident. - FMT
