PADANG BESAR: Every citizen should be aware of their rights and responsibilities by understanding available legal channels and seeking accurate guidance when requiring related services.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, said the Legal Aid Department plays a vital role as a bridge between the community and the justice system.
"The services help the public understand their rights, get guidance, and choose appropriate resolution channels," His Highness said when officiating the closing ceremony of the Perlis state-level Legal Aid Department Discourse "Yang Jauh Didekati, Yang Sulit Disantuni" 2026 at Felda Rimba Mas today.
At the event, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra also witnessed the signing of a Note of Cooperation between the department and the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs).
Meanwhile, the Raja Muda of Perlis said the discourse exposed participants to the latest service developments, including expanded legal aid in civil and Syariah matters, the Madani Mediation Centre, Legal Companion, and Public Defence.
His Highness said these knowledge-sharing initiatives should expand to ensure legal awareness reaches a broader segment of society.
"Every participant can act as a bridge to help those around them recognise their rights, understand available channels, and access legal services more easily," His Highness added.
On the Note of Cooperation, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said the collaboration reflects both institutions' commitment to extending service benefits to the community, especially the asnaf group.
