RTM to broadcast Harimau Malaya matches in Fifa Asean Cup

 The broadcast will start with the Group A opener against Bangladesh in Jakarta tomorrow.

PETALING JAYA:

Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) will broadcast Harimau Malaya’s matches in the Fifa Asean Cup Division 1 competition in Jakarta, starting with the Group A opener against Bangladesh tomorrow, says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

He said this in response to inquiries on social media about the live broadcast of Harimau Malaya’s matches in the Asean Cup.

Anwar called on Malaysians to give their full support to the team led by interim head coach Tan Cheng Hoe during the tournament’s inaugural edition.

“Let us give the national team our full support,” he said in a Facebook post today.

The match between Malaysia, currently ranked 136th in the world, and Bangladesh, ranked 181st, at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta will kick off at 5pm (Malaysian time).

Harimau Malaya have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Indonesia, Bangladesh and Singapore. Group B comprises Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Pakistan.

Malaysia will face 118th-ranked Indonesia at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in their second match on Sept 28, before concluding their Group A campaign against 148th-ranked Singapore at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung on Oct 1.

The winners of Group A and Group B will meet in the final at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Oct 5 at night, while the runners-up will compete in the third-place play-off at the same venue earlier that day. - FMT
