Ipoh police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the three suspects, aged between 17 and 20, were arrested at their apartment this morning.
He said the 53-year-old victim was found unconscious by members of the public in an open area, lying on the ground with injuries to his face.
"The victim was then taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here for further treatment, but after receiving treatment several times, he was pronounced dead around 6.42pm yesterday.
"An autopsy found that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head," he said in a statement.
Najib said police subsequently arrested the three suspects as part of investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
He said police were still conducting further investigations to determine the actual motive for the incident and the relationship between the victim and suspects.
"Anyone with information about the incident is urged to assist investigations by contacting the Ipoh district police headquarters at 05-2451500 or any nearby police station," he said. - NST
