Landscape worker finds old mortar bomb in Padang Terap

 Police say the Kedah bomb disposal unit identified the object as a rusted 60mm unexploded device.

PETALING JAYA:

A landscape worker discovered an old mortar bomb while working at Taman Rekreasi Mahawangsa in Padang Terap, Kedah, today.

Padang Terap police chief Anuar Junoh said the 30-year-old man lodged a report about the discovery at about 11am.

“Inspection by the Kedah police’s bomb disposal unit identified the object as a rusted 60mm unexploded mortar bomb,” Utusan Malaysia quoted him as saying.

Anuar said the worker was clearing undergrowth when he unearthed the bomb.

He said the bomb would be destroyed today at the nearby Yiked quarry. - FMT
