Revocation of Negeri Sembilan exco members’ appointments gazetted

 The 10 comprise seven from Umno and one each from MCA, PAS and Wawasan.

The revocation of the appointments of 10 Negeri Sembilan executive council members has been gazetted today.

The gazette stated that their appointments were revoked effective Sept 20 by Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

“According to Article 38(5) of the Negeri Sembilan constitution, members of the state exco, except for the menteri besar, hold their posts with the consent of the ruler.

“Since the 10 have violated their pledge of allegiance to the ruler, their appointments as members of the state exco have been revoked and annulled,” said the gazette.

The 10 now-former exco members include Umno’s Mustapha Nagoor (Palong), Faizal Ramli (Linggi), Zaiful Bahri Idris (Chembong), Razi Ali (Sungai Lui), Asna Amin (Lenggeng), Siti Nur Umaira Hasim (Labu) and Suhaimizan Bizar (Gemencheh).

The other three are MCA’s Siow Kong Choon (Chennah), PAS’s Fairuz Isa (Serting) and Razali Abu Samah (Sikamat) of Wawasan.

Last week, the exco issued a statement purportedly affirming Tuanku Muhriz’s removal as Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan. Menteri besar Ismail Lasim endorsed the statement a day later.

This was disputed by the state’s Dewan Keadilan dan Undang as well as the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

On Sept 20, the Negeri Sembilan palace announced that Tuanku Muhriz had revoked the appointments of the exco members with immediate effect. - FMT
