Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says the company, which specialises in general-purpose AI robotics, could potentially offer 5,000 job opportunities.
Anwar said the investment from AgiBot, which specialises in general-purpose artificial intelligence robotics, could potentially create 5,000 job opportunities.
The other firms are ZTE Corporation, Alibaba Group, Geely Automobile Holdings, and Huawei Technologies.
Anwar said ZTE Corporation outlined initiatives and investments worth RM170 million to drive Malaysia’s digital transformation, while creating more quality career opportunities for local talent.
“In my discussions with Alibaba Group, we also touched on efforts to expand market access for Malaysian products, particularly those produced by micro, small and medium enterprises, and the country’s halal industry, to the Chinese and global markets through Alibaba’s digital ecosystem,” he said in a Facebook post.
He said discussions with the five firms centred on exploring in depth new investment opportunities and strategic partnerships in high-impact sectors, including humanoid robotics, digital infrastructure, AI, electric vehicle technology, and e-commerce.
Anwar, who is on a three-day working visit to Shanghai and Hangzhou, said the government remains committed to spearheading and attracting high-quality investments, empowering local talent, and creating skilled job opportunities to drive economic prosperity for the people and the nation.
China has been Malaysia’s largest trading partner for 17 consecutive years, with bilateral trade totalling US$113.82 billion (RM456.68 billion) from January to August. - FMT
