Perkasa cancels rally, but members to stroll in city

Not being able to book any stadium for its rally, Perkasa dropped its plan to hold a counter rally against Bersih 2.0 tomorrow, but its chief Ibrahim Ali called on all 15,000 members to stroll within Kuala Lumpur, especially in Titiwangsa lake, the initial location for its rally.

NONE"I have briefed them and suggested that they stroll, but not in the restricted areas. For example they can stroll at Titiwangsa lake, which is a recreational park," Ibrahim told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

"Officially we can't hold (a rally) but I am still working hard to get a stadium. If we can get a stadium, then we will appeal to police (for a permit). We still have time until tomorrow.

"If we still cannot get, I urge them (Perkasa members) to have picnic or makan angin at Titiwangsa lake."

But, for himself, Ibrahim said he would stay at home tomorrow because he has been restricted from entering the capital city by a court order.

"I will stay at home because I can't go out. My home minister also won't allow me to go out... she will follow to monitor me," he quipped to a round of laughter.

"But I hope Bersih will not victimise me by wearing a mask that has my face (and entering Kuala Lumpur). They can do that, they can do everything."
