KOTA BARU, Sept 14 — Kelantan people must not forget the good deeds and contributions made by the Barisan Nasional (BN) federal government.
Kelantan Umno chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said despite being ruled by PAS for over 20 years, Kelantan was not neglected and received annual aid for development.
“Let us not forget the good deeds by Barisan Nasional. Don’t be ungrateful because via education, the Malays, Chinese and Indians receive scholarship.
“Don’t belittle the contributions and changes that occured. Siti Khadijah Market costing over RM8 million was built by BN, not PAS,” he said when opening Kota Baru Umno delegates meeting here today.
The meeting opened by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was attended by his wife, Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin and political secretary to the prime minister, Datuk Mohd Fatmi Che Salleh, who is also Kota Baru Umno division chief.
Mustapa (picture) said the federal government was always finding ways to develop Kelantan but was often disrupted due to the weakness of the PAS government.
“The PAS government can’t solve the water problem and provide low-cost housing after 22 years.
“BN wants to bring big change in Kelantan,” said the International trade and industry minister.
Meanwhile, Mohd Fatmi said the Kelantan people should be united so that the prosperity achieved could be passed on to the next generation.
The people in Kota Baru conduct business on a small scale and need funding to grow their business.
“The markets here are disorganised and need upgrading and the same goes for the drainage system. Our struggle is for the comfort of Kota Baru people,” he added. — Bernama
