SEREMBAN - A group of men made off with an automatic teller machine (ATM) containing RM150,000 from a bank in Seremban 2 near here early this morning.
Seremban police chief ACP Saiful Azly Kamarudin said initial investigations found the incident took place between 3.15am and 4am and was meticulously planned by the criminals.
"The CCTV recording showed all suspects were wearing masks and police believe there were more than three persons involved.
"They began by spraying the closed circuit television camera with paint before breaking down the glass partition where nine ATM and cash deposit machines were located before prising one of the ATMs and carting it away," he told reporters here today.
He said the bank's alarm was triggered during the incident but the suspects managed to disable the alarm system before the warning reached the security company.
He said the robbery was discovered at about 6.50am by a customer who wanted to withdraw money from the bank.
Police later recovered the empty stolen ATM in a plantation in Jalan Labu near here at 11am.
"Police are going through the CCTV recording to identify the suspects involved," he said.
Members of the public with information on the case are requested to contact 06-6033222 to assists in the investigation.
