Guan Eng, who is 'Ms P' and 'Dato JP'?

Penang BN Youth has challenged Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to reveal if he had sold a plot of land - which the wing claimed was reserved for public housing - to two of his “cronies”.

State BN Youth Information chief H'ng Khoon Leng alleged that a "Miss P and Dato' JP" are Lim's cronies, and their relationship has started before the 12th general election in 2008.

H'ng claimed that the duo have supported Lim with logistic assistance in the form of a car for the chief minister's usage.

"Did the two individuals provide Lim with financial aid before March 8 that year? He needs to answer this question," H'ng said at a press conference today.

"Since we dare to ask the question, Lim must be brave enough to answer it," he added.

H'ng was referring to a plot of land in Taman Manggis at Jalan Zainal Abidin which is now earmarked for a medical centre.

The state BN Youth continues to claim that it was land reserved for public housing but the state government claims that there had never been a plan submitted for the purpose by the previous administration.

When told that the land sale was conducted via an open tender, H'ng replied that the authority had called for tender twice but following the first announcement, the word jemput (invite) had been used.

"This raised many suspicions over the tender process. That is why we have urged Lim to reveal the documents pertaining to the land transaction," H'ng said.

Lim invited to visit land

The BN Youth wing in Penang, led by Oh Tong Keong, has offered to purchase the land for RM450 per sq feet, and Lim had agreed to the offer, saying he would send an official letter to Oh very soon.

During the same press conference, Oh (left) further corrected Lim on the size of the land, which he claims is 4.9 acres, and not 1.1 as mentioned by the chief minister.

He invited Lim to pay a visit to the area on Friday, at 10am, saying the BN Youth will then show the chief minister previous government record on the housing proposal in Taman Manggis.

Oh, who is also Gerakan Youth chief, questioned why Lim has refused to reveal details of the tender documents, stating,"we want him to explain what is the link with Miss P".

He urged Lim not to divert attention from the matter, saying the Youths do not wish to "attack or scold" the chief minister.

"So, please do not be nervous and scold me as brainless, rubbish, childish, unethical and dirty," Oh told Lim, who is DAP secretary-general.

"I am just playing my role as an opposition within a democratic system, by raising questions," he added.

Oh said he does not know whether Lim refuses or pretends to understand the issue, but will give him three days to respond, adding that if the chief minister was not free to visit the area, BN Youth is willing to reschedule another date.

"He needs to come as we are talking about him, so please do not send someone else. We will send an invitation letter to him tomorrow," he added.

Lim is ‘racist for the rich and wealthy’

Meanwhile, state Umno Youth chief Sheik Hussain Mydin questioned whether the state government had submitted a plan for public housing in Jalan SP Chelliah and Batu Kawan, describing Lim as the king of "ground-breaking".

Sheik Hussain, who had previously criticised Lim over another land sale inBayan Mutiara, now condemned Lim for being "profit-oriented".

"If he admits that he does not want to build houses for the poor and wish to sell land to the rich, then we will close this file.

“Lim is not Malay, Chinese ar Indian racist. He is just racist for the rich and wealthy".

Responding to the issue earlier, Lim said Penang BN chief Teng Chang Yeow was trying to explain BN's failure to buy the Taman Manggis land by saying the state government has not written officially to them.

"This is a new condition which was never mentioned earlier by BN."

To ensure that Teng does not try to run away again from making "unsubstantiated allegations and promises", Lim said he has directed his political secretary Ng Wei Aik to write an official letter to the Teng.

"Proceeds from the sale (of the land) to BN will be used to fund the building of affordable housing by the state government on the island, especially in Jalan SP Chelliah," he said.

"The question is will BN come up with the over RM22 million before the next general election to buy the land to build public housing or is this another sandiwara (drama) to get cheap publicity?" he queried.
