Parliament to discuss anti-Islam movie
Parliamentary proceedings will be suspended at 4.30pm today to allow the Dewan Rakyat to discuss controversial film 'Innocence of Muslims' that has been accused of insulting Islam and the Prophet Muhammad.
"After due consideration, I find that it is a specific matter of public interest and is urgent," said deputy speaker Ronald Kiandee when agreeing to two motions from Salahuddin Ayub (PAS-Kubang Kerian) and Khairy Jamaluddin (BN-Rembau).
He used his powers under Standing Order 18(3) to suspend the proceedings and he will give 30 minutes for the House to discuss the Parliament's reaction to the film which has garnered demonstrations and protests against it from Muslims worldwide.
