Crashing helicopter kills child

The remote-control chopper was one of the gimmicks at the launch of a synthetic football field.
SEREMBAN: A remote-control helicopter crashed in Paroi last night, killing a toddler who was in the crowd attending the launch of a synthetic football field.
The child, 18-month-old Nor Damia Husminah Banee, was hit by one of the rotor blades while she was asleep in her father’s arms, with her head on his shoulder.
The helicopter demonstration was one of the gimmicks employed to enliven the ceremony, where the guests of honour were Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan and Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah.
The blade hit the heads of both Nor Damia and her father, Banee Yamin. Both were rushed to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban. Nor Damia died while receiving treatment for her injuries. Banee is warded at the hospital.
Three other spectators sustained minor injuries.
Nor Damia was buried today following a funeral at Taman Bakawali, Ampangan, which saw the attendance of Mohamad as well as Negeri Sembilan PAS chief Mohd Taufek Abdul Ghani and the deputy chairman of Seremban PKR, Mohamad Rafie Abdul Malek.
Mohamad said the state government would conduct an inquiry into the accident.
