IGP, if you can arrest Tian Chua, why not Harris?

YOURSAY 'Would the IGP dare to arrest and charge Harris like he did to the poor ordinary teacher in Kelantan? Or it it a case of different strokes for different people?'

IGP blows top over former Sabah CM's claim

your sayFerdtan: Clap, clap. The normally cool inspector-general of police (IGP) Ismail Omar lost his cool when he hit out at former Sabah CM Harris Salleh for his claim that police officers had destroyed identity cards (ICs) and other identification documents belonging to the Suluk community.

He even slammed his fist (of fury) on the table with his face contorted with anger. But why stopped there? Batu MP and PKR vice-president Tian Chua and many others were questioned, harassed and arrested by the police for much less. Why the double standard?

Using the same analogy as in Tian Chua's case, didn't Harris Salleh undermine the good work and reputation of the police? Tian Chua was charged for sedition for uttering provocative remarks against Umno, not the police force.

Harris is much worse - he uttered provocative remarks directly against our heroes - the police officers who are now bravely fighting the terrorists in Sabah.

IGP, if it is enough to arrest and charge Tian Chua, don't you think it is good enough to arrest Harris? If you want our respect, show us through your action, and not your anger. It meant nothing.

Bernard Phillips: Okay, the Ismail Omar had a bad day and apologised, so let's leave that and go on with his allegations against Harris Salleh.

These claims were not made by your ordinary Joe and the IGP should have summoned Harris and demanded proof from him.

And I am absolutely certain that the former CM could easily provide his evidence which would then merit a comprehensive investigation by the police as to whom were confiscating these ICs and more importantly why.

Well, I think I know the reason if what was exposed at the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) recently was true.

Starr: Yes, the IGP is right in rebutting Harris Salleh's allegations about the police destroying the Suluks' ICs in their 'mopping-up' operation.

It's bizarre Harris Salleh wasted no time in making the allegations, especially after he disclaimed any knowledge of the Project IC scam at the on-going Sabah RCI.

Everyone knew he acted in concert with the masterminds behind the scam to alter the demographic of Sabah and ensure a Muslim-dominated government.

He even set up an operational base for this purpose in his Balung estate in Tawau. He did it during his reign as CM and post-Berjaya's era through Yayasan Islam Sabah, an Islamic welfare organisation purportedly set up to look after the interests of the 'new citizens' in return for their support as he attempted to rebuild his political career.

It now backfired on him with thousands of these Suluks in possession of faked ICs, seriously causing a security problem to the police. Surely, these faked ICs should be confiscated and destroyed.

Disgusted: Would the IGP dare to arrest and charge Harris Salleh like he did to the poor ordinary teacher in Kelantan? Or is it a case of different strokes for different people? How to respect the police force if they act in such biased fashion.

Ahmed: Why no action against Harris Salleh for being so unpatriotic and for defaming the police? Moreover, he is also one of Mahathir's accomplice in Project IC. Crack the whip on Harris Salleh now.

Onyourtoes: IGP, no one is questioning your patriotism or the patriotism of the police force. Those allegations were made by a former CM. He must have got it from some other sources.

If the accusation is not true, just say it is not true and you will investigate those who made such unfounded accusations. If you do not know whether it is true of not, please say you will investigate.

Don't assume your man can do no wrong. But I am not saying the police is unpatriotic or that they are not sacrificing for this nation.

Love Malaysia63: "If you say that, then bring me the evidence," said the IGP.

Isn't it the police job to investigate and find evidence? So the SOP (standard operating procedure) is just sit behind the desk and wait for evidence to flow in? How stupid.

Anak Perak: "I don't entertain this rubbish talk. We are facing a situation (in Lahad Datu, where) my men have died."

Probably if Harris Salleh is still in power, he will be talking differently - this is the kind of rubbish we have.

He said he got no time for wild allegations but immediately jump into action when his political master instructed him to take action against their enemies, with or without evidence.

Swipenter: We are all angry over the Suluk invasion of Sabah and we are angry that they killed nine of our men. We are also angry with the police for not acting impartially with what is going on within our borders with our own kind.
Acts and threats of violence by some quarters are just ignored whereas some are quickly dealt with. Why?

Everybody has the right to get angry with those politicians involved in Project IC and these politicians still have the audacity to spew hatred amongst us. Why is the police not doing anything against them? Is this how patriotism works?

Yes, PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) is having a credibility issue with the public, but please do not accused us of not standing behind our boys in the fight to root out the Suluk insurgents.

The police must be seen to be independent and not partake in partisan politics, but sadly this is not the rakyat's perception of our police force.

Taikohtai: All members of PDRM should realise that once the going gets tough, their bosses are not going to hang around to support them.

Most likely, they will be looking for scapegoats to deflect the blame. Meritocracy is not the protocol of BN, bodek-kiss-em is. - Malaysiakini
