Kelantan must change for younger generation’s sake, says Muhyiddin

KOTA BARU, March 1 — Kelantan must change to bring about a better future for its young generation, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.
He said it was sad to see the young people in Kelantan having to move to other states for survival.
“It is our (Barisan Nasional) desire to see a big change taking place in Kelantan for the sake of the young people...to ensure a better future for them.
“Many of these young people have to move out of Kelantan because they can’t find a job here. We don’t want these young people to be left out. PAS has been ruling the state for 22 years. What have they done? Nothing that we can really be proud of.”
Muhyiddin (picture) said this when meeting with Kelantan youth at An Evening With Deputy Prime Minister programme at the Kelantan National Culture and Arts Department Complex in Tanjong Chat here today.
Present were Kelantan Umno chief Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, his deputy Datuk Awang Adek Hussin, Prime Minister’s political secretary Datuk Mohd Fatmi Che Salleh and Kelantan BN component party leaders.
Muhyiddin said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s concern for the wellbeing of the people was proven even at the international arena where Malaysia had been entrusted to become the mediator to bring peace in conflict-stricken countries like the Philippines and Thailand.
As such, he said the future of the young people would be more secure in Najib’s hand than in the opposition’s.
“This is a promise that will be fulfilled. Just look at what happened in Selangor, Kedah and Kelantan currently under the opposition. Many issues remain unsolved. No development is taking place.
“We want the people to progress. We want the state to be a developed state. We don’t want anybody to be sidelined,” he said.
Therefore, the deputy prime minister said it was high time for the young people to play their parts in making the changes because they were the determining factor for the future.
He also called the young people to be rational when casting their vote in the next general election.
“Don’t fall for the opposition’s promises in the manifesto. We know they can never be fulfilled,” he added. — Bernama
