Klang MP's application for judicial review against Election Commission dismissed

SHAH ALAM: The High Court here has dismissed Klang MP Charles Santiago's application for leave to file a judicial review compelling the Election Commission (EC) to clean up the electoral roll.
Justice Vernon Ong, in his ruling on Thursday, said the application was vexatious and frivolous. He dismissed the application with no order as to cost.
Santiago filed the leave for judicial review to seek a mandamus order to force the EC to review the main and supplementary electoral rolls for the fourth quarter of 2012.
He is also seeking the court to compel the EC to answer several issues raised in his letter dated Dec 21, last year, which was sent to the chairman.
Among the issues raised were irregularities in the electoral roll in his constituency where more than 5,000 voters, he claimed, were either missing or had been moved out.
