Najib an 'illegitimate' prime minister, says Kit Siang
DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang regards Najib Abdul Razak as an ‘illegitimate' prime minister as the government's five year term, which began from the date of the 12th general election, ended two days ago.
"March 9 is an important date, as from this day onwards we have an illegitimate prime minister, correct?" he asked the 5000 people who attended the five year anniversary of Pakatan Rakyat rule over Selangor yesterday night.
The question drew a loud response of "yes" from the crowd.
He added Najib also feared calling for national polls, fearing that BN will be defeated.
"He's also the longest unelected prime minister in history - other in the same position have called for general elections within a short period- six months to a year to seek a mandate from the people," said Lim (right).
"But Najib has made a new record for himself and Malaysia. The country has entered the Guinness Books of Records. Which country in the world has been in election mode for four years? This is disgraceful for Malaysia," he said.
The last national poll was held on March 8, 2008 and the opposition as well as senior lawyer Tommy Thomas have opined that BN should form a caretaker government beginning March 8.
Lim asked the crowd if they are ready for a change, and the crowd shouted "yes".
"Can we win in Selangor in the 13th general election, can we retain power again?" asked the Ipoh Timur parliamentarian, who drew another enthusiastic "yes" from the crowd.
Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Selangor PAS chief Dr Abdul Rani Osman also attended the celebration held in Dataran Kemerdekaan, Shah Alam.
Anwar's speech focused on the Pakatan's manifesto and the agenda that Pakatan will bring once elected into power.
His humour and light manner when touching on his personal experience of being slandered in the past 15 years, drew laughter and applause from the crowd.
He said, Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor have ran out of luck, as businessman Deepak Jaikishan, private investigator P Balakrishnan and Azlan Lazim, the father of Mohamad Saiful Bukhari, who was involved in a sodomy case against Anwar, have come out against them.
