'Najib must answer to Sodomy conspiracy claims'

Prime Minister Najib must immediately reveal the full extent of his knowledge of the involvement of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in the Sodomy II allegations, said PKR.

NONEPKR vice president N Surendran (right) was responding to yesterday by the father of Saiful Bukhari Azlan that Sodomy II was “a political conspiracy against Anwar Ibrahim involving the special officer to Prime Minister Najib Razak”.

“Azlan Lazim's admission is shocking and unprecedented, and implicates the highest levels of the Malaysian government in an illegal conspiracy against the leader of the parliamentary opposition,” said Surendran in a statement this morning.

Surendran demanded that:
  • Prime Minister Najib to immediately reveal the full extent of his knowledge of the conspiracy against Anwar Ibrahim;
  • A full inquiry to be instituted on the involvement of the PM's Office in the conspiracy;
  • A full and independent investigation upon attorney-general Gani Patail and top prosecutors who had brought these charges against Anwar;
  • That the pending appeal against Anwar's acquittal be immediately withdrawn;
  • That action according to the law be taken against all those involved in the conspiracy, no matter how high up in government;
  • That the government and the BN openly and unconditionally apologise to Anwar, his family and the Malaysian public.
Surendran said Azlan’s revelations “vindicates Anwar” and proves Pakatan Rakyat's consistent position that the Sodomy II charges are a “vicious political conspiracy.

NONEAzlan yesterdayapologised to Anwar claiming his son had been used by certain parties to defame the PKR de facto leader in the sodomy allegations.

He claimed that all media statements by him and Saiful had been prepared by a special officer with the PMO and a lawyer, Zamri Idrus.

Saiful however held his own press conference yesterday evening alleging that it was his father who had been used by Anwar, and that he stood by his allegations against his former boss.
