Umno leaders defy cabinet decision on Tanda Putera

VOXPOP 'The cabinet is the highest decision-making body in the land. When the cabinet has made a decision, no one should defy it.'

Bersih, M'kini demonised at Tanda Putera screening

vox populi small thumbnailTholu: The cabinet had banned the screening of the ‘Tanda Putera' film at least until GE13 is over as it is claimed that it may provoke racial sentiments and would be unhealthy for racial unity.

Now that the film is allowed to be screened, albeit to selected audiences, who is breaching the decision of the cabinet?

The answer is obvious - it is cabinet members from Umno, and more precisely PM Najib Razak. Now what is the other cabinet members' reaction to this blatant breach?

Doesn't this episode clearly indicates that although BN is a coalition of many parties, including mono-ethnic parties such as MCA and MIC, it is Umno that decides on every matter including sensitive issues involving other races and religions.

So why as a Chinese should one should vote for MCA and as an Indian, vote for MIC when the tail of these leaders are in between their hind legs and their head scraping the ground when in the presence of Umno?

Onyourtoes: The cabinet is the highest decision-making body in the land. When the cabinet has made a decision, no one should defy it.

Now, are Felda and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (UIA) higher than the cabinet? Are individual members of the cabinet higher than the cabinet as a whole?

Please tell me, who is going to respect this government and its cabinet? Any member of the cabinet who has an iota of self-respect and dignity would have resigned by now.

MockingYou: I want the name of this senior officer from the Prime Minister's Office. Students should lodge a police report over this incident. Speak up. For crying out loud, you're in UIA.

Cogito Ergo Sum: As academics, they must be able to tell the difference between fair comment and lopsided views.

If the movie merely depicted the official version, then it cannot be taken as being fair or objective.
By being present, the university authorities are giving approval to the movie. A rather sad day for the academia.

Whatshappenning: I respect our PM. He has done a lot for the country and its citizens. But there is only one thing he can't handle - racial issues.

Why does he allow certain people to bring up such sensitive matters. We have to respect other people's sensitivities. Malaysia is such a lovely and peaceful country, please maintain that.

Fair&Just: The sinister purpose of the movie is obvious and very clear, isn't it? - Malaysiakini
