When Parliament says spying on M'sia not an urgent issue, you know SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG!
The parliament today rejected an emergency motion filed by Bukit Katil MP Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin to condemn the alleged spying on Malaysia by to condemn the United States, Australia and Singapore.
Worse, there is zero response by Prime Minister Najib Razak as well.
Parliament Speaker Pandikar Amin rejected Shamsul’s motion with excuse saying the Foreign Affairs Ministry had acted on the matter and as such, stressed that there was no urgency to debate the matter.
However, Shamsul disagreed. He argued that a strong message must be sent to those allegedly involved in spying.
“The failure of government especially our prime minister to come out with a strong stance is causing this despicable act to continue,” argued Shamsul.
The PKR Youth chief said other countries leaders like Brazil, Germany and Indonesia had reacted strongly by demanding for apology and cancelling trip to Washington to show their disgust over US and Australia’s spying activities in their countries.
US and Australia’s spying activities was thrust to global limelight by American whistleblower Edward Snowden who revealed the existence of a global espionage network by both countries.
Yesterday, Snowden upped the ante by alleging that Singapore had aided an intelligence group to spy on Malaysia.
US embassy in Kuala Lumpur was listed by Snowden as one of the monitoring station to tap telephones and monitor communication networks using XKeyscore, a top-secret intelligence tool.
Foreign Affairs Minister Anifah Aman said the government expressed grave concern on the alleged spying activities and would be summoning Singapore high commissioner for explanation tomorrow.
The question now is how long this spying activity has been on-going?
And how much data foreign countries now hold on Malaysia and its leaders?
Is this why our leaders are hesitating to make a strong condemnation over the alleged spying activity?
