She vows to remain strong and motivated in meeting her social responsibilities and to perform for the Penang people.
GEORGE TOWN: Jahara Hamid is unperturbed by recent verbal attacks and labels being tagged on her and says she will continue to strive in performing her duties as the state Opposition leader .
Jahara was recently labeled by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng as a “racist” following an exchange in the on-going Penang assembly.
“I may be bullied, harassed and subjected to various accusations and name calling.
“But I will remain strong. I relish the challenges ahead. I will perform my duties for the people,” she told newsmen during lunch break, today.
She admitted it was a major challenge for her in leading the other nine BN representatives as they faced constant attacks and harassment in the assembly which is dominated by 30 Pakatan Rakyat elected representatives.
“But I will not give up. I (will) fight till the end,” stressed Jahara.
Since the start of the Penang assembly session, on Monday, she has been instrumental in motivating the other BN representatives to remain spirited and united by text messaging each one of them every morning.
“I always advise them to forge cooperation and (to) be firm during debates at the assembly,” she said.
Commenting on Guan Eng’s recent attack on her, Jahara said it was just a DAP strategy in an attempt to destablise and weaken Umno and BN.
She recounted how during the last general election campaign DAP attacked Umno and BN with accusations that they are corrupt.
“Now DAP wants to create a false public perception and portray that Umno and BN are racists.
“The people will soon realise that DAP’s allegations are all untrue and malicious.
“The people will know that only BN will fight for all Malaysians,” said Jahara.
