CM moves resolution to condemn Umno

Guan Eng calls for a task force to probe the storming of the Penang Assembly House
Penang Dun Protest (7)GEORGE TOWN: The Penang State Assembly has been urged to form a task force to investigate yesterday’s storming of the assembly building by a group of protesters led by Penang Umno.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng tabled a resolution to that effect at the beginning of today’s assembly sitting.
He proposed a five-man team headed by Speaker Law Choo Kiang (PKR-Bukit Tambun). If the resolution is passed, the other members will be Opposition Leader Jahara Hamid (BN-Teluk Air Tawar) Deputy Speaker Maktar Shapee (PKR –Sungai Bakap), executive councillor Chow Kon Yeow (DAP – Padang Kota) and Permatang Pasir representative Md Salleh Man of PAS.
The resolution also urges the police to take over the security of the Penang Assembly House and calls for a condemnation of Umno for being responsible for violating its sanctity.
During yesterday’s protest, which was led by Penang Umno Youth vice-chairman Jasmin Nordin, six of the 200-odd protesters entered the building in search of Seri Delima assemblyman RSN Rayer of DAP.
Rayer had said “Umno celaka” in his speech in the assembly on Tuesday and the protesters were demanding an apology. They broke the gate to the Assembly House.
In the debate on the resolution, state executive councillor Jagdeep Singh Deo (DAP-Datuk Keramat) called the protesters “terrorists” and another councillor, Chong Eng (DAP-Berapit), told Barisan Nasional representatives they would be wrong to interpret Rayer’s remark against Umno as an insult to the Malay community.
