GEORGE TOWN - Ramkarpal Singh, the third son of Karpal Singh, said the slogan "I am Karpal Singh" which appeared on his campaign banner does not mean to mislead voters as claimed by an independent candidate for the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary by-election.
"It is just a slogan that is not meant to be taken literally and I think anybody would have understood that but him (independent candidate Mohamed Nabi Bux Mohd Nabi Abdul Sathar).
"The slogan means the spirit of Karpal lives on in all us," he told reporters during his campaign at Desa Mawar flat at Air Itam, here today. It was reported that Mohamed Nabi Bux lambasted Ramkarpal over various banners which read 'I am Karpal Singh' with Ramkarpal's picture appearing below the campaign items.
Mohamed Nabi Bux claimed the banners had conveyed the wrong message and that it appeared as though the late DAP chairman was contesting and not his son, Ramkarpal.
Besides Ramkarpal and Mohamed Nabi Bux, the by-election, for which polling has been set for May 25, is seeing a four-cornered fight with another independent Abu Backer Sidek Mohammad Zan and Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) vice-chairman Datuk Huan Cheng Guan. – Bernama
