Calls and text messages should be allowed as parents need to communicate with their children.
ALOR SETAR: The Ministry of Education (MOE) has been urged to reconsider the use of mobile phones in school, as it is now viewed as more of a necessity.
State Education, Transport and Works Committee Chairman Tajul Urus Mat Zain said, the use of mobile phones is impossible to block and focus should instead be on using them for positive things.
“Parents need to communicate with their children by calling or just texting. It is time for MOE to allow the use of mobile phones which can receive and make calls, and receive and send text messages.
“WhatsApp, Facebook and the like are unnecessary,” he told reporters after receiving 31 Kedah students from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan at Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, here yesterday.
