System upgrade taking place from January 9 to 25.
PUTRAJAYA: The issuance of MyKad at 43 branches of the National Registration Department (NRD) nationwide will experience a disruption due to upgrading work on the Identity Card System from January 9 to 25.
NRD director-general Sulaiman Keling in a statement here yesterday said the disruption would also cause the duration between the application and the issuance of MyKad at those branches to be extended to 10 working days from the current 24 hours.
Among the NRD branches to be affected are those in Perlis, Alor Setar, Kedah UTC (Urban Transformation Centre), Kulim, Penang, Ipoh, Perak UTC, Bagan Datoh and Sri Manjong.
Also at the NRD branches in Shah Alam, Klang and Petaling Jaya, Selangor; Kuala Lumpur UTC, Keramat UTC and Sentul Mini UTC in Kuala Lumpur; Melaka and Melaka UTC in Melaka; Seremban in Negeri Sembilan; Johor Bahru UTC, Kluang and Batu Pahat in Johor. Three NRD branches each in Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan will also be affected.
In Sarawak, four NRD branches, namely in Kuching, Miri, Sibu and Sri Aman, as well as four NRD branches in Sabah will also experience the disruption, including at Kota Kinabalu UTC.
