Fahmi follows up with satirical arrest warrant

After taking a stab at 'Save Malaysia' clowns and hypocrites, artist now pokes fun at Najib and Mahathir
Fahmi Reza2
PETALING JAYA: Hours after satirising the politicians in yesterday’s Citizen’s Declaration, activist Fahmi Reza has issued a satirical arrest warrant on prime minister Najib Razak and his arch-critic Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
He posted a new satirical image this morning, with caricatures of the two political leaders in clown face – a feature which has now become the hallmark of his free-speech and anti-sedition campaign
His image features the slogans “Arrest Najib” and “Arrest Mahathir”, making satirical references to opposition allegations last year that anti-corruption investigators had prepared an arrest warrant and criminal charges against Najib.
The allegations have angered the government, leading to action against online media such as Internet blocks on The Malaysia Insider and other publications which have repeated these allegations.
Government leaders have previously denied that any charges had been prepared, and have said that an image of a purported charge sheet published by Sarawak Report was a fake. Access to Sarawak Report has since been blocked.
Fahmi was recently called up by police after posting a satirical image of Najib Razak in clown face, which sparked an outburst of similar clown images by a host of graphic artists showing solidarity.
Late last night, he took aim at anti-Najib political figures who gathered to make a Citizens Declaration yesterday calling for Najib’s ouster.
The image showed a host of political leaders holding hands, with caricatures of Dr Mahathir, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang, former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former MCA president Ling Liong Sik among them.
Yesterday, more than 50 politicians, and members of civil society, signed a Citizens Declaration demanding that Najib step down, and calling for institutional reforms.
