Youth council starts a 'pay it forward' campaign at Anggerik Mall food court in Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Youth Council has started a ‘Pay It Forward’ campaign to help the poor to have free and cheap food at selected food stalls.

The council’s information chief, Nurul Hidayah Ahmad Zahid, said the campaign, launched at Anggerik Mall, involved 11 stall operators at the food court.

“People who patronise the stalls can donate to the poor. For example, if a customer pays for a glass of tea as a donation, the stallholder will write it on paper and paste it on board.

“This way, the poor can get food based on the donation made or top it up,” she said after launching the campaign yesterday.

Nurul Hidayah said the campaign would not only help the poor but indirectly, educate the public to be charitable.

The council plans to expand the campaign to more food stalls and restaurants in Selangor.
