Rafizi: Will Saudi now call in favour from Najib?

Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli has expressed concern that Saudi Arabia may call in economic favours from Malaysia, if Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had any financial arrangements with the kingdom.
"If the Saudis call in the favour now, what is the impact on the public?" Rafizi asked when contacted by Malaysiakini.
He was commenting on a report that Saudi Arabia is seeking a bank loan of between US$6 billion (RM24.65 billion) and US$8 billion (RM32.86 billion) to help shore up a record budget deficit caused by low oil prices.
The first ever loan request by the kingdom comes as its deficit reportedly reached nearly US$100 billion (RM410.83 billion) last year.
On a lighter note, the PKR vice-president suggested that Najib may want to sell off some Umno assets should the Saudis require his assistance.
"Najib may want to consider getting Umno to auction its assets to raise the fund to help the Saudis.
"After all, BN's win in the 2013 GE was due to the donation from the Saudis," he quipped.
Attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali said Najib received RM2.6 billion from a member of the Saudi royal family, as political donation, in 2013.
The prime minister has denied allegations that the money is linked to 1MDB, or that he misused public funds for personal gain.
Likewise, Apandi cleared Najib of any criminal misconduct in regard to the donation.
