Malaysia’s top badminton player Lee Chong Wei wrested the Malaysian Open title when he defeated world number one Chen Long, at the Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam today.
Lee managed to get the better of the China athlete, dominating the game through straight sets.
Lee trounced defending champion Chen by 21-13 and 21-8.
The Malaysian champion held back on his smashes in the first round.
However, he managed to confuse Chen, sending the China top shuttler running to the back and the front of the court.
Lee was also using his home ground advantage, to propel him to win the 11th Malaysian Open in front of 10,000 fans.
The Penangite’s dominance of the game was obvious, leaving Chen listless by the second set.
