PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has begged to differ with Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem, who believes that despite being a nice person, she is in the wrong party.
“Thank you for thinking I'm a nice person, (but) I think I'm in the right party.
“That's why we started the party in the first place,” she told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Adenan has also said that Wan Azizah and her daughter, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah, should ask him politely to be allowed to enter Sarawak.
Responding to this, Wan Azizah said allowing them into the state would show that the chief minister upholds healthy democratic practices.
However, she said, both she and Nurul Izzah would write to Adenan to request for permission, since the chief minister had asked them to do so.
“Yes (I will write him a letter). He asked to write, so I will,” she added.
The opposition leader is unsure of her current status with regard to entering Sarawak, stating that she doesn't know whether she is barred.
Her daughter was barred from entering the East Malaysian state, together with dozens of politicians.
PKR deputy president Azmin Ali managed to enter Sarawak but has been given entry only until May 2.
The state government has allowed DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and his father, party veteran Lim Kit Siang, into Sarawak.
However, the chief minister warned that the two would be booted out if they misbehaved.
Sarawak will be holding its 11th state election on May 7.
