PM Najib says New Year is the time we reflect on our past journey and celebrate new beginnings and opportunities with hope.
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Najib Razak today wished “Chitirai Putthandu Vaalthukal” and “Vishu Ashamsakal” to Tamil and Malayali communities and “Aap Sab Nu Vaisakhi Di Lakh Lakh Vadai Hovey” to Sikh friends.
Najib said this week many in the Indian community will be ushering in their respective New Year celebrations.
“While the Tamil and Malayali community celebrates “Chitirai Putthandu” and “Vishu” respectively, the Sikh community will mark the birth of “Khalsa” with the “Vaisakhi” celebration and New Year is the time we reflect on our past journey and celebrate new beginnings and opportunities with hope.
“I am reminded of a conversation I had with S Prakash, a successful Indian entrepreneur whom I met last week where despite his disabilities, he has been able to further his studies to the doctorate level and is successful in his training and motivation business,” he said in his blog NajibRazak.com here today.
Najib said Prakash is very positive with his life and shared how he was inspired by the quote: “When one door closes, another door opens.”
He said like Prakash, many in the community also face hardships and obstacles in their pursuit for happy and better living standards for the current and future generation.
“Even as a nation, we are not spared from such challenges. However, we must always remember that we are in this journey together and whatever that comes our way, we will overcome it with the strengthened ‘nambikei’ or trust we have established over the last seven years.”
Stressing that he wanted to “have more engagements with the community”, Najib expressed interest to know more of the people’s inspiring achievements so as together the government and the community could help to shape a better and brighter future for all those in the community who still needed assistance.
In the message, Najib called upon all Malaysians to join him in wishing the Indian community good health, happiness and success in the coming year.
