Original Line Clear re-named LC Restaurant now

Line-Clear-restoran
KUALA LUMPUR: The original Line Clear Nasi Kandar restaurant has been rebranded to LC Restaurant in a bid to keep themselves separate from other restaurants around the country who are using the same name.
Restaurant manager Salim Madinah clarified this today amidst reigning confusion among members of the general public that there were only two original Line Clear Nasi Kandar restaurants in the country – one in George Town and the other in Kuala Lumpur and all others bearing the same name had no ties whatsoever with the original operators.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference at the Line Clear Nasi Kandar restaurant in Kampung Bharu today, Salim said the management had identified several restaurants using the Line Clear name in Ampang, Kampung Pandan and at the Penang International Airport.
He stressed that these outlets did not belong to the family members of the original Line Clear restaurants.
The two original Line Clear outlets, he said could only be found in Jalan Penang in George Town and Jalan Raja Abdullah in Kampung Bharu, Kuala Lumpur.
He added that other “irresponsible” restaurant owners who used the Line Clear name were only confusing patrons, especially diehard fans of the original Line Clear Nasi Kandar.
Salim insisted that the taste of the food sold in the other restaurants was also not the same as the fare available in the original Line Clear ones.
“I want to stress that there are only two Line Clear Nasi Kandar restaurants in the whole country; Jalan Penang in Penang and Jalan Raja Abdullah in Kampung Bharu, KL.
“We hope this explanation will clear up any confusion that may have arisen because of the actions of irresponsible parties,” Salim said.
He also said the patent process for the name change to LC Restaurant was completed last year and they were now prepared to sue any party who used the same name as theirs to confuse patrons.
The Line Clear Nasi Kandar restaurant began operations in Penang in 1949 and has grown to be synonymous with the state’s food heritage.
Members of the 85-year-old family business were however embroiled in controversy last year over the ownership of the restaurant.
The dispute ended when four of the family’s heirs agreed to abide by the Penang High Court’s ruling of a rotation ownership system set by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP).
