A molotov cocktail was lobbed at Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy's service centre in Taman Chai Leng, Perai, early today, lending a fiery twist to the debate over Muslim preacher Zakir Naik.
The DAP leader said one of the persons in charge of his service centre heard a loud noise at 3am.
Upon inspection, Ramasamy saw that a molotov cocktail had been thrown at the centre's iron shutters.
"There's no damage, very minimal," he said when contacted, adding that there were only scorch marks.
"There's feeling there's something to do with what I said on Zakir, but I really don't know."
Ramasamy (photo) said police are investigating the attack and looking at CCTV footage to identify the suspect.
Today, he also expressed regret after he was condemned for calling Zakir "satan", in a statement urging the cancellation of the preacher's talk comparing Hinduism and Islam.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's office today also lodged a police report over a fake Twitter posting of Lim saying that the Islamic preacher is from India is banned from Penang. -Mkini
