Speaker’s son: Plot to topple Johor MB true

Shukur Mohamad says he will give details at the right time.

PETALING JAYA: The Johor state Speaker’s son is not budging from his stand that there is a plot by a deputy minister to replace Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

Shukur Mohamad, eldest son of Mohamad Aziz, said he had proof of the attempt to oust Khaled, Star Online reported.

He refused to give more details on his allegations, only saying: “I will reveal it but now is not the right time.”

Shukur had claimed on Facebook that he had been approached by several Umno leaders who wanted him to keep silent over the matter.

“But why should I? Why are they jumping when I have not named anyone?”

Shukur, who is an Umno member in the Sri Gading division, had claimed recently that a deputy minister had offered RM1 million to any individual who could convince 20 branch leaders in the Pagoh division to reject Muhyiddin Yassin as their chief.

After his allegation surfaced, Johor Umno leaders denied the existence of such an attempt to oust Khaled.

Shukur’s father said he had no clue where his son got his information from.

Deputy Transport Minister Aziz Kaprawi had called the allegation nonsensical, saying a deputy minister did not qualify for the MB post as he or she was a Member of Parliament (MP), while an MB was selected from the crop of assemblymen.

Johor Umno Youth Chief Hahasrin Hashim had also dismissed the rumour, saying it was rubbish and a waste of time.

There are six deputy ministers from Johor besides Aziz. They are Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Razali Ibrahim; Deputy Natural Resources and Environment Minister Hamim Samuri; Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed; Deputy Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Halimah Sadique; and Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Ahmad Maslan.
