Zahid hails Adenan as extraordinary leader

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today hailed Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem as an extraordinary leader.
He said Adenan, fondly known as Tok Nan, was approachable and people-oriented, not greedy for position and had only asked to be the chief minister for one term to ensure further development of the state.
"It is a leader with such characteristics who must be fully supported by Sarawakians," he said when addressing a 'Leader with the People' gathering in Kampung Masjid in Balingian.
Balingian, a small town on the banks of the Sungai Balingian in the central region of Sarawak, comes under the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (Score).
Ahmad Zahid said Adenan's concern for the development of Sarawak was most evident because every time Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak visited Sarawak, almost 50 at last count, the chief minister would raise the need for continuous development in the state.
Ahmad Zahid said the people of Sarawak should respond by ensuring that Adenan received a resounding mandate to continue administering the state so that planned development could be implemented.
Sarawak goes to the polls on May 7. The Election Commission has set nomination for April 25.
The deputy prime minister said Sekolah Menengah Balingian promised by the Barisan Nasional government during the Balingian state by-election in 2014 would be built soon.
"The land for the school has already being earmarked and the plans have been drawn up," he said.
Ahmad Zahid said the BN government would also resolve the oft-disrupted water supply problem in Kuala Balingian and repair the road from Balingian to Sungai Anak which suffered damage though it was completed just over a year ago.
