Khalid gets letter of demand from Tajuddin for 'sial' comment

Parti Amanah Negara's (Amanah) Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad has received a letter of demand from BN's Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman for calling the latter "sial" (damned).
"I received the letter of demand this morning. This is not the first time Tajuddin is doing this.
"I will hold a press conference when he formally sues me," Khalid told a press conference at the Parliament lobby.
Khalid had on Monday called Tajuddin "sial" after the the BN MP described DAP's Seputeh MP Teresa Kok as "the only woman with a 'Kok' in Seputeh" during the Dewan Rakyat sitting.
The following day, Tajuddin, who is agriculture and agro-based industry deputy minister, refused to apologise for his innuendo and instead railed against Khalid for the insult.
He then challenged Khalid to repeat the "sial" comment outside the House where he will not enjoy parliamentary immunity.
At a press conference outside the Dewan Rakyat, Khalid defended his comment.
"I had to reprimand Pasir Salak (Tajuddin), for it was clear what he said.
"I called him a minister who used 'sial' language, and was a 'sial' minister for not retracting his remarks," Khalid had said.
This prompted Tajuddin to send his letter of demand to Khalid today.
Meanwhile, PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin in a statement today called for Tajuddin's datukship to be revoked over his "Kok" comment.
"Tajuddin should have his datukship revoked for not honouring his title in a proper manner.
"If someone with a datukship can display such sexist behaviour even in Parliament and is not referred to the parliamentary rights committee, then this will pave the way for even more disrespectful attitude towards women in future," said Zuraida, who is also Ampang MP.
She also ticked off the Dewan Rakyat speaker for not reining in Tajuddin over his comment.

"Kok has done nothing wrong and does not deserve to have her surname mocked in such a manner.
"A family name is a tradition and by making a joke out of someone’s name shows great insensitivity towards that person’s family lineage and ancestry.
Tajuddin should sincerely apologise Kok and under no circumstances repeat this mistake again. I hope he will learn to respect women more," she said.- Mkini
