KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman once again engaged with the media on Wednesday, blaming them for their “slanted” reporting of his remarks in Parliament against Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.
Claiming that women, especially those in Pasir Salak where he is MP, loved him, Tajuddin said he was not afraid of the negative publicity thrown at him.
The war of words erupted at a press conference in Parliament when Tajuddin accused a reporter of siding with the Opposition by throwing hard-hitting questions to him.
The journalist told Tajuddin not to “simply put a label” on people he did not know of.
Tajuddin courted controversy on Monday when he allegedly called the Seputeh MP as “the only woman with a Kok”.
He then denied making the remark, saying that he was referring to her surname.
Tajuddin, the Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister, retorted that the media’s reporting had been unfair towards him, providing a one-sided picture of the whole incident.
“Other people are afraid of media as they think the media can bring them up and down. I am not afraid of media, you have to be fair,” he said.
“You say you are fair, but you are not. I know certain media that are not fair,” he said, mentioning several news publications he claimed to be biased.
Tajuddin said there was no way that he had made sexist remarks as many women “love” him.
“If I am so bad, abuse women, ladies, nobody will support me.
“You come to my place (Pasir Salak constituency) all the girls and women, young and old, love me.
“You can read the WhatsApp messages sent to me (from) all the Wanita in my division,” he said.
Tajuddin also said he had instructed his lawyer to send a letter of demand to Shah Alam MP Khalid Abdul Samad for calling him a “sial” minister.
The letter, among others, called for Khalid to make a public apology and retract his remark.
