Three NGOs today lodged three police reports against Satees Muniandy, the private secretary of Penang Deputy Chief Minister P Ramasamy, for having allegedly insulted Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar of Johor on Facebook.
They are Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah (MJMM), Ikatan Usahawan Kecil dan Sederhana Malaysia (IKHLAS) and Ikatan Rakyat Insan Muslim Malaysia (IRIMM).
MJMM president Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah, speaking on behalf of all three NGOs, said Satees had allegedly uploaded a statement insulting the sultan on the social media facility.
"We hope that the police and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission will investigate and take the appropriate action as Satees' (alleged) action is unacceptable," he said to reporters after the reports were made at the Dang Wangi Police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
The Facebook post is believed to have been uploaded following the sultan's statement on Nov 3 at the Bangsa Johor gathering that he would not allow street demonstrations in Johor.
Meanwhile in Johor Baru, vice-president of the Coordination Council of the Gabungan Persatuan NGO Melayu Negeri Johor Abdullah Md Yusof also urged Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Satees to make a public apology.
Abdullah said the Facebook posts of the two individuals had insulted many people as it was posted in total disregard of the constitutional monarchy institution.
"We advise them to immediately apologise for their statements in which they allegedly questioned the sultan's statement as if he did not understand the Federal Constitution.
"We, the people of Johor, support the sultan's call not to hold street demonstration or badmouth our leaders because we want to maintain peace and harmony among the multi-racial people," he told a press conference today.
Also present were representatives of Gabungan Persekutuan Tiong-Hua Johor Baru and Gabungan NGO India Johor.
