Participants of the vigils demanding the release of Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah should brace themselves for a crackdown, said inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar.
Khalid, who two days ago declared the ongoing candle-light vigils at Dataran Merdeka illegal , reiterated the police would take action.
"I am fed up of issuing warnings. I have said this before, no more warnings to them, including candle (vigils) and other parties," he said.
"Be ready for (police) action," he said at a press conference today.
"We have said that any assembly held needs to be done according to rules and regulations.
"If we do not follow these rules and laws, what is the use of the laws then?" he asked.
"Enough, I am tired of warning, so be ready for (police) action," he repeated.
Khalid made a similar warning to those who attempted to riot at the Parliament compound yesterday.
