Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak were not involved in the second sodomy case against Anwar Ibrahim, former inspector-general of police Musa Hassan said.
"Mahathir was not behind Sodomy II. He was not even called by the police," Musa told a press conference in Petaling Jaya today.
Responding to a question, he also denied that Najib was involved in the case.
Najib was deputy prime minister when the former opposition leader, who is serving a five-year prison term, was charged in 2008.
Musa was responding to allegations on blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin's website Malaysia Today, which claimed that Mahathir had used Musa and former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail to imprison Anwar.
Raja Petra on the blog had also called Musa, Mahathir's "running dog number one".
Musa said no government servants are running dogs for politicians.
"Sometimes we don't even agree with the politicians.
"We just carry out our duties and support the government of the day based on their policies," he said.- Mkini
