Autopsy shows the woman found in rubber estate died of strangulation.
KOTA TINGGI: A woman found dead with her hands tied behind her back in a rubber plantation in Kampung Lukut, Batu Ampat, yesterday, has been confirmed to be a Malaysian.
Kota Tinggi police chief Supt Rahmat Othman said the 37-year-old woman’s body was found at 11am by two friends in search of wood to make hilts for their parang.
“The woman’s hands and right leg were tied with lawnmower cable while the left leg had signs of being tied with cable.
“The neck was tied with nylon rope and joined to the hands behind the back,” he said in a statement, here today.
The woman had shoulder-length curly hair and wore a green T-shirt and dark blue jeans. The head was covered with a blue T-shirt.
Rahmat said the autopsy revealed the woman had died of strangulation while the estimated time of death was within 24 hours of the time the body was found.
“The woman is believed to have freed her left leg and tried to flee but the tight cable squeezed her neck.”
Police have arrested three men aged between 39 and 51 in three locations here.
All three suspects have been remanded until Dec 20 to assist in investigations. -FMT
