DOES DAP AGREE TO PAS JOINING PAKATAN HARAPAN?

I am really hoping that PAS will accept Mahathir’s invitation to join Pakatan Harapan. This is going to be Pakatan Harapan’s poisoned chalice. If DAP says yes then they are finished. If DAP says no then they are also finished. If DAP says yes then it means they accept Sharia laws and the RUU355. If DAP says no then it means they are the ones who are destroying the opposition’s chances of forming the next federal government due to the triggering of three-corner fights all over Malaysia.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Yesterday, in the article ‘Why Pakatan Harapan is failing’ (READ HERE), we talked about how Pakatan Rakyat started life in 2008 with the ‘agree-to-disagree’ doctrine and how Anwar Ibrahim was warned in 2010 that if they do not stop agreeing-to-disagree and start agreeing then the opposition coalition was not going to last.
True enough, not long after the 2013 general election, trouble began and two years later Pakatan Rakyat collapsed and was replaced with Pakatan Harapan. And the issue that triggered Pakatan Rakyat’s collapse (which Anwar was warned about in 2010) is the Sharia laws — in this the case the Sharia Amendment Bill or RUU355 to be precise.
Of course, the RUU355 has been around since 2003. But DAP had never found fault with it before. Only now does DAP find the RUU355 a ‘threat to non-Muslims’ who, DAP says, will see their hands being cut off and rapists being freed because they need four witnesses to prove rape. DAP might as well have told the Chinese that they will need to be circumcised once RUU355 is passed by Parliament — and the irony is the Chinese would believe DAP.
This is just like back in the old days when Christians used to persecute Jews all over Europe because, they said, Jews kill Christian children and cook and eat them. And if a Christian baby were to die during childbirth or due to sickness they will hunt down Jews and kill them and burn their houses.
Does that sound downright stupid? Well, it may not be so stupid after all because DAP is using the same tactic in their fear campaign to frighten the Chinese and make them hate Sharia laws in general and RUU355 in particular.
Mahathir decides if PAS joins Pakatan Harapan whether DAP, PKR or PAN agree or not
Today, however, DAP has got a spokesman to do all their talking, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Mahathir said a vote for PAS is a vote for Umno. So, if you hate Umno, then you have to hate PAS as well.
The Chinese already hate both PAS and Umno. So they do not need Mahathir to tell them to hate PAS and Umno. But then Mahathir’s target is not the Chinese. His target is the Malays, especially those in the Malay heartland — and the natives of Sabah and Sarawak, of course.
The Malays are split into two. In the 2013 general election Umno garnered 30% of the votes and PAS 15%. It was exactly the same in the 2008 general election, which means Umno and PAS did not gain or lose any ground.
So, if Mahathir can make those who voted Umno to not vote Umno because that would be the same as voting PAS, and if he can also make those who voted PAS to not vote PAS because that would be the same as voting Umno, then 45% of the votes in the next general election would be up for grabs. And who do you think Mahathir hopes will grab those 45% votes?
Mahathir’s doctrine is one man’s loss is another man’s gain. Voting for A is the same as voting for B (and I hate B) while voting for B is the same as voting for A (and I hate A), so I will vote for C instead. And Mahathir is C.
Good tactic. And Mahathir is confident it will work because he did the same thing in 2008 and it worked then as well. In 2008, he told the Chinese that a vote for MCA or Gerakan is a vote for Umno. So, if you hate Umno, then do not vote for MCA and Gerakan. Vote for DAP instead.
And the Chinese did just that. They voted for DAP and that was when the Chinese Tsunami happened. And Mahathir was the architect of the Chinese Tsunami. The Chinese abandoned MCA and Gerakan (and MIC and PPP as well) and voted for DAP. And the Chinese were also told to vote for PAS (wherever there was no DAP) because a vote for PAS is the same as a vote for DAP.
A vote for PAS is a vote for DAP, the Chinese were once told, so they voted PAS
Mahathir even told the Malays to do the same. In his roadshow throughout Malaysia he told the Malays that Umno and Barisan Nasional need to be punished and need to be taught a lesson — so they should vote for the opposition.
And many Malays did just that — mainly because Mahathir had been the Prime Minister for 22 years and many Malays still looked up to him. And Barisan Nasional lost 58 Parliament seats and five states because Mahathir told them to vote opposition.
And now Mahathir is at it again. He is telling Malaysians that a vote for PAS is a vote for Umno. So, if you hate Umno, then do not vote PAS, and vice versa. At the same time Mahathir is saying that Pakatan Harapan is willing to work with PAS, and had even delayed formalising the opposition coalition just so they could get the Islamist party on board (READ HERE).
“We hoped for PAS to join us, but they couldn’t work with DAP and Amanah. It was PAS who ended ties with us, but we’re still open,” said Mahathir today.
Kit Siang announced in June 2015 that DAP, alone, has decided Pakatan Rakyat ceases to exist
First of all, Mahathir is lying about PAS ending its ties with Pakatan Rakyat. In June 2015, Lim Kit Siang announced, as reported by The Malaysian Insider, “DAP’s decision that Pakatan Rakyat has ceased to exist is not a sign of defeat for the party.”
So it was DAP that made the decision to close down Pakatan Rakyat and Kit Siang announced this decision to the world. So how come they keep saying that PAS left Pakatan Rakyat or refuses to work with Pakatan Harapan? When they formed Pakatan Harapan they did not ask PAS to join the coalition. Instead they took in DAP’s new Islamic party, PAN, that is supposed to replace PAS.
Kit Siang and Mahathir are bare-faced liars. These two senile old men should be put to pasture. Either they are suffering from dementia or they think we are. Or maybe they think Malaysians are so stupid that you can say one thing one day and the opposite the next and no one will notice.
Secondly, if PAS does join Pakatan Harapan, like what Mahathir wants, what will DAP’s position be? What will PAN’s position be? PKR and PPBM a.k.a. Pribumi might be able to accept PAS in Pakatan Harapan but will DAP and PAN also accept PAS?
Thirdly, is it Mahathir’s decision alone that matters or do PKR, DAP and PAN also have a say in the matter? Mahathir appears to be the spokesman for Pakatan Harapan. Is Mahathir speaking in his personal capacity as the adviser to Pribumi or is he speaking on behalf of Pakatan Harapan?
Does Mat Sabu and Kit Siang also agree for PAS to join Pakatan Harapan or is this Mahathir’s sole decision?
In other words, is Mahathir’s decision for PAS to join Pakatan Harapan binding upon the whole coalition and are PKR, DAP and PAN tied to this decision or can they disagree or agree to disagree?
Say PAS agrees to join Pakatan Harapan, what are PKR, DAP and PAN going to say? Or will they just keep quiet? And if one of the three, say PAN or DAP, disagrees with PAS joining Pakatan Harapan, what is going to happen?
Anwar Ibrahim said Pakatan Harapan works on consensus. So that means all four must say yes and a simple majority cannot apply. And ‘all four’ means Pribumi, DAP, PKR and PAN.
The next question is how is DAP going to explain saying yes to PAS joining Pakatan Harapan? DAP called PAS a Taliban party and said that PAS and Umno are trying to Talibanise the country. They talk about the Talibanisation of Malaysia and that PAS, in collaboration with Umno, are the culprits. On the other hand, PAS said the party was formed to uphold Islam and they have never changed their objective and still stand by that reason from 1951 until today.
