Hamzah: Gov't sensitive to people's needs

The “Jom Serbu” programme organised in conjunction with the Cheap Sale Carnival is proof that the BN government is sensitive to the needs of the people, said Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Minister Hamzah Zainudin.
He said the government had always fulfilled its promises in ensuring that the people were not heavily burdened by price increases.
“The local communities stand to benefit from this programme which has been organised to help consumers buy goods at affordable and lower price.
"This is a strategy in addressing price volatility and protecting the public against middlemen which will thus help reduce the burden of the people," he said at a press conference after a "Jom Serbu" programme at Arena Square, Batu Kurau, Larut today.
Hamzah, who is also Larut MP, said 88 Umno divisions nationwide had organised the programme which had been proven effective in helping the people.
According to Hamzah, the programme received tremendous response from people all over the country although the products on offer vary from place to place.
"Most of the products are sold at below market price," he said adding that among essential items sold were rice, sugar, flour, cooking oil, chicken, onions and vegetables.
