The government is still examining its options regarding the abolition of tolls that was promised in the Pakatan Harapan general election manifesto.
“The ministry is still looking into the proposal to abolish tolls in stages.
“This is because it has big implications that need to be examined holistically, involving many parties including concessionaires, creditors and the share market as a whole.
“As such, the ministry is in the process of discussing with federal agencies and concessionaires to look into suitable options related to toll issues,” said Works Minister Baru Bian in a written parliamentary reply.
He was responding to a question from Kemaman MP Che Alias Hamid on whether the Harapan government will fulfil its promise to abolish tolls.
While Harapan did promise in their manifesto to abolish tolls, it is not among the tasks listed in their 100-day promises. -Mkini
