SUNGAI KANDIS POLLS | PAS central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Aziz believes that his party wants its members to vote for Umno in the coming Sungai Kandis by-election.
In a lengthy Facebook post, the son of late former PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat said there were five signs which pointed to this.
The first was that PAS encouraged its members to vote. The second was that PAS had instructed its members to reject Pakatan Harapan.
The third was that Harapan had allegedly failed to fulfil its manifesto and the actions of some of its leaders threatened the sanctity of the Federal Constitution and Islam.
The fourth was that PAS supporting Harapan would be akin to stabbing themselves because Harapan wanted to capture Kelantan and Terengganu from them.
The final sign was that Umno no longer wanted to defeat PAS and as such, it was no longer a threat.
"If you ask me, is it not clear that PAS wants its members to vote for Umno? My answer is yes, in Sungai Kandis. That is my understanding," he said.
He also said that PAS was trying to uplift Umno by increasing its awareness of Islam.
"Umno is PAS's older brother that had forgotten itself after being in power too long.
"Umno's awareness is a strength to PAS to ensure that Islam is stronger in this land," the Bachok MP said.
PAS has agreed to sit out the Sungai Kandis by-election.
In the coming Aug 4 by-election, Harapan's Zawawi Ahmad Mughni will face BN's Lokman Noor Adam and independent candidate Murthi Krishnasamy.
The Sungai Kandis state seat fell vacant after the death of assemblyperson Mat Shuhaimi Shafie on July 2 from lymphoma.
He won the Sungai Kandis seat with a 12,480-vote majority in GE14. - Mkini
