A letter purporting that PKR will not support Bersatu in the Semenyih by-election is fake, the party said.
"This letter is fake. It is a desperate effort to pit the parties in Pakatan Harapan against each other," PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution told Malaysiakini.
Photos of the letter bearing his signature have been circulating on social media.
The letter states that PKR's political bureau had on Feb 27 taken note of complaints from the Hulu Langat division, and have unanimously decided not to back Bersatu in Semenyih.
"The political bureau meeting this week made no such order for the secretary-general to write a letter like this," PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil told Malaysiakini.
"I also confirm that there no objections from any divisions regarding the Semenyih by-election were raised or discussed during the meeting," he added.
He said the letter's format, reference number, are also different from official PKR letters.
According to Fahmi, the letter was the work of political foes who had run out of capital.
PKR leaders have been an active part of the Semenyih by-election.
On Tuesday, the night of the purported meeting, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim was giving a ceramah in Semenyih.
PKR deputy president Azmin Ali has also been a mainstay of the campaign, and was present at a ceramah featuring Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad last night.
